T-153 the "NEAT" concept: instead of bike riding for a workout try moving house!

Do you know what NEAT is?

We did a lot of it today as we continued to mammoth task of packing up the house....including a quick Coles dumpster dive to get more cardboard packing boxes.

NEAT is defined as "non-exercise activity thermogenesis" and is the energy we expend for everything we do that is not sleeping, eating or sports-like exercise...apparently farmers have a higb NEAT but I am sure so do house-packers and removalists especially after a full weekend packing boxes.

But we have made good progress for our planned uplift next Saturday..so hopefully by this time next week we will be in our new apartment.

During a planned break (& obligatory trip to the local Bunnings Hardware store) we had a look at the impressive 'wicking beds' set up by Brett Pritchard at JCU Rotary International House Food Garden.

Brett, ably assisted by Jay Jackson, explained the concept & gave plenty of practical tips on turning food waste using the VRM Biologik-derived process developed by Ken Bellamy. Very impressive results from a small plot with heaps of potential.

See the VRM Link http://www.vrm.com.au/. Great for the garden and the vegies love it.

The garden impressed Susie and plans to bring her Scottish visitor to the site to promote the concept.

Check out the pictures of the garden beds.
